GVIBS

The application of scientific knowledge regarding vibration and sound phenomena is of crucial importance in the design and analysis of the dynamic behavior of structures, machines, and acoustic cavities, with the aim of improving comfort and safety conditions, as well as extending the service life of mechanical components and systems. Products with reduced levels of vibration and radiated noise are increasingly in demandfoto-no linear_3 —both nationally and, especially, internationally— often determining whether markets are won or lost. The Research Group on Vibrations and Sound in Mechanical Systems (GVIBS), in a fruitful partnership with the distinguished Prof. Prof. José João de Espíndola, has been developing proprietary methodologies for the control of vibrations andradiatednoise through the use of viscoelastic materials and devices, in both non-rotating and rotating mechanical systems. The group’s developments are documented in various scientific papers presented at conferences and published in national and international indexed journals. As a result of this work, several national and international patents have also been generated.
